Why Nan Rich Supporters Will Never Support Charlie Crist

Leslie WimesLast night, Charlie-Come-Lately Crist won the Democratic nomination for Governor of Florida.

While the voter turn-out was low, he still won. Nan Rich, the only TRUE Democrat in the race, was the only hope for progressives who still believe in what being a Democrat is supposed to mean.

Now, with the nomination of Crisco Crist, we see what it means in Florida.

Nothing.

A big fat zero.

Do Florida Democrats have ANY reason to vote in November? Some say no.

I have been inundated with calls from Democrats who say they will not vote for Crist in November.

To the media, who cruelly and carelessly trash Nan Rich’s numbers last night, remember this fact: in order for Crist to win in November, he NEEDS us.

While that number couldn’t give Nan Rich the nomination, it certainly can stop Charlie Crist from becoming Governor again.

Now let’s talk about unity. Nan Rich has been asked to participate in “uniting” the party.

Being the classy woman that she is, of course she will make an appearance. Trust and believe, it is going to take a lot more than Nan Rich to repair the Grand Canyon sized hole that currently exists in the Democratic Party.

Nan Rich may forgive, but a great number of her supporters will not.

Nor will they support Charlie Crist.

In the not too distant past, Charlie Crist wouldn’t acknowledge the fact that Nan Rich was in the race, let alone share a stage with her. Now that he NEEDS her supporters, he wants this unity tour?

Sorry Charlie, we aren’t buying it. You had no time for debates, issues, or Nan Rich. Now, we have no time for you.

  1. A lot of Nan Rich’s supporters have told me that they will be voting for Adrian Wyllie if Nan doesn’t win the primary.

  2. I urge you to come out and meet some LPF candidates. Three in particular who might impress you are Adrian Wyllie, who is running for Governor, Bill Wohlsifer for Attorney General, and Lucas Overby, who is running for US Congress against a Republican incumbent in a race with no Democrats, because of some sort of party-screw-up soap opera I should not try to recount here. Anyway, we very much respected Nan Rich, and many of us (yours truly included) decried the “Snitker Paradox” treatment she got in this state’s biased “news” media. We need people with ideas like yours in order to change things in this state, and while progressives may not agree with us on *every* issue, I really think we can work together this time. I hope you agree. And if you get a chance, please come have a beer with the future Governor! Thanks.

  3. Leslie, first of all THANK YOU for starting this “Women on the Move” news site and blog. I have been a Nan Rich supporter since I discovered her qualifications to run. Although I could not vote for her (due to some very archaic rules) I was raised to use my precious vote to cast it for the most worthy for the position, regardless of Party Affiliation. I was registered as a Republican and switched to N.P.A., as both the major parties have very serious issues. I wrote Nan an email a few months back and encouraged her, despite the D Party kicking her to the curb for “SORRY CHARLIE” R turned D. IMHO, any D who voted for TRAITOR FLIP FLOP is a traitor to us all. Every time I went to a straw poll event and Nan Rich was not listed on the Ballot, or in a news article she was not mentioned, I threw the appropriate HISSY FIT. To the R’s who bought the “VOTE FOR CHARLIE” for Governor when he ran as an R, they disgust me and the same goes for the D’s who did the same thing. I hope Nan decides to change her Party Affiliation to N.P.A. as well. How the media and her own party treated her is not forgivable, nor forgettable. I have been in the same situation, but certainly not as cruel as this one was. Nan is a classy lady, brilliant, with fresh ideas, I hope she continues to be in public service. Adrian Wyllie is the MOST WORTHY and QUALIFIED to be our next Governor and that is who I am voting for in November. Neither Reckless Rick nor Crusty Crist are worthy to hold my ballot while I vote. God Bless you Nan! 🙂

  4. I completely understand your issue with Charlie Crist. He ran a disgusting campaign against Nan Rick. He is an insult of a candidate just like Rick Scott.

I would suggest that you look at Adrian Wyllie. You may be pleasantly surprised and find a candidate you can feel good in voting for.
